[Redacted]

Crap.

Crap, crap, crap.

I need to take a break from the blog for a bit. I don't know, I might have to take the whole thing down. I've worked too hard toward this degree to throw it all away two and a half weeks before graduating.

  1. I just stayed up half the night reading half your blog from the start, so I hope you don't take it down, so that I can finish it. I am a Mormon mutant, too. I understand your frustration. I felt similarly after watching Saturday morning Conference session--talked "about" more than "too," perhaps? It's okay to feel the way you do, you're just being honest. If school/church has a problem with that, then...I don't know what to say. You're just trying to work out how to make sense of being a mutation that struggles to fit in, and longs for revelation to "make it all better."

"It gets better." Hopefully, the cliche continues to hold true. But maybe each mutant's "better" is a different story, so revelation has to remain personal. If the Church gives a generalized sweeping revelation (whatever that would be) regarding mutants, it might make half of them feel obligated to pursue a certain life when perhaps they don't want to.

Some flying mutants want to pursue flying, others would rather pursue bachelorhood and rely solely on Priesthood power, or pursue marrying a human to be as close to having a "normal" Mormon family as possible.

Maybe revelation on a broad scale would narrow the sense of what's possible for mutants, rather than broaden it.

Just a rambling thought, take it for what it's worth. But, I suppose some would say we already have broad revelation, which is that marriage is for humans, so "stop asking for more revelation...it's already there."

    Which leaves mutants...where?

Back to just hoping "it gets better." Somehow. Someday. Somewhere....

Hope you stay online. You're a great writer and you provoke humans to think more deeply about what it's like to be a mutant. Which isn't a bad thing.

  2. Best of luck in these critical few weeks. It will be over very soon. I have read most of your blog and hope to finish it as well. You never know who might be benefiting. Through read several blogs on MoHo directory, I have begun to seek returning to the church after giving up my membership voluntarily because I am in a same-sex marriage. No one knows what the future holds for any of us. Luckily, we get a day at a time to decide what we need to do. Hang in there!
